The Ballot Brief

Put a ballot lookup on your site, free

The Ballot Brief widget lets your readers enter a ZIP code or street address and see every race and candidate on their 2026 ballot: federal, statewide, and local, with bios, priorities, and campaign finance data. It is free, nonpartisan, carries no advertising, and takes one copy-paste to install.

Built for local newsrooms, public libraries, county and city websites, campus organizations, and civic groups. Candidate data is compiled from official sources, led by certified state and county election office lists.

Common questions

What does it cost?

Nothing. The widget and the ballot data behind it are free to embed. A small "Powered by The Ballot Brief" credit appears under the form.

Is it nonpartisan?

Yes. We list every candidate we can verify in each covered race, we do not endorse candidates, and we do not accept campaign advertising. Our methodology is public.

Does it track my readers?

The embedded form collects nothing on your page. When a reader submits a lookup, they go to our site, where standard analytics apply. We never sell reader data.

Can we get a custom version?

If you want matched colors, a specific default region, or a deeper integration for your newsroom, contact us. We are happy to help civic and news organizations.
