About this race
Single-nominee race: Lance Cansino, unopposed in the Republican primary, is the only candidate on the November 3 ballot; no Democrat filed, per the county's official March 3 primary results (Lubbock County Elections, results.enr.clarityelections.com) (Texas prints unopposed candidates).
What this office does
Justice of the peace. Justices of the peace handle the lowest-level court matters: small claims, evictions, traffic and minor criminal cases, and, in some states, marriages and inquests. The office is part of the judiciary, so candidates are limited in what they may promise.
This race. The sitting officeholder, Lance Cansino, is on the ballot. One name is on the ballot for this seat.
