This is a special race for the remainder of the term after Kristen Hoyt stepped down as tax assessor-collector to run for county judge. The Commissioners Court appointed Stuart Hansmann interim tax assessor-collector in December 2025, and he ran unopposed in the Republican primary covering that unexpired term.
