She has served as an associate judge in the Dallas County civil district courts since 2013 and was elected to the bench in November 2020, following more than 30 years of civil litigation experience, per her campaign site. She is a graduate of Spelman College and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.
