About this race
Three at-large seats are up in 2026 (top two finishers get four-year terms, third-place finisher gets a two-year term). Six Republicans ran in the March 3, 2026 primary; incumbents Scottie Brown and Bert Connolly and newcomer Brent Goddard won the three Republican nominations, per Iredell Free News and Candidate_Listing_2026.csv. They face Democrats Terence Clark and Amanda Brown Kotis, who were unopposed for their party's nomination, in the November 3, 2026 general election for the three seats.
What this office does
County commissioner. The county board is the county's legislative and, in most states, executive body. Commissioners adopt the county budget and property tax rate, oversee roads, the jail, public health, planning and zoning in unincorporated areas, and appoint or confirm department heads. In counties with an elected county executive or judge, the board's role is mainly the budget and ordinances.
This race. Two-year term. Sitting officeholders on the ballot: Bert Connolly, Scottie Brown.
