About this race

Incumbent Sherry Jones and challenger Grady Erickson are running for the nonpartisan Nebraska State Board of Education District 6 seat, per the Nebraska Secretary of State's certified candidate list.

What this office does

State board of education member. A state board of education sets statewide academic standards, approves graduation requirements and teacher-licensing rules, adopts the state's school accountability system and, in many states, hires the state superintendent. Members represent districts drawn across the state. Local school boards still run the schools day to day. A regional superintendent of schools handles teacher certification, school safety inspections and other state-mandated services for the school districts in a multi-county region.

This race. Nonpartisan: candidates appear without party labels. The sitting officeholder, Sherry Jones, is on the ballot.

This list comes from official election records but may be incomplete. It can miss, for example, late or petition candidates and some city, school and district races. Your official sample ballot is the final word.
