Braveboy became Prince George's County Executive after winning a June 2025 special election to complete the term of Angela Alsobrooks, who was elected to the U.S. Senate, per NBC4 Washington. As county executive she has pointed to eliminating a $170 million structural budget deficit without raising taxes and to a proposed $1.6 billion development project at National Harbor, per WJLA.
2026 priorities (per the WJLA)
- Expanding economic development, including the proposed Sphere development at National Harbor and litter cleanup initiatives
- Increasing investment in special education programs and expanding affordable housing
