Eric E. Whisman, the Democratic incumbent, won a four-way May 19, 2026 primary with 659 votes (47.11%), ahead of Lambert Moore (313, 22.37%), Dalaina Marie Bean (249, 17.80%) and Marshall T. Flynn (178, 12.72%), per the Franklin County Clerk's official cumulative primary results. Jacob Hack filed for the Republican nomination and faced no primary opponent, per the Clerk's candidate filings. Whisman and Hack meet in the November 3, 2026 general election.
Eric E. Whisman is a Franklin County native who grew up in Bald Knob and graduated from Western Hills High School and the University of Kentucky with a degree in communications and a master's in historic preservation, per the State Journal. He is completing his first term as 6th District magistrate after previously serving one term on the Frankfort City Commission, and serves as president of the Kentucky Trust for Historic Preservation and chairman of the Franklin County Trust for Historic Preservation, per the same source.
