Florida › Miami Dade County › County Referendum 1, Charter Amendment Establish an Independent Salary Commission

County Referendum 1, Charter Amendment Establish an Independent Salary Commission is a ballot question for Miami Dade County on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Shall the Charter be amended to replace the fixed annual salary for County Commissioners with an independent, five-member Salary Commission, appointed by the Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, State Attorney, Public Defender, Executive Director of the Commission on Ethics, and Inspector General, that annually reviews and sets Commissioner salaries based on specific criteria, with all decisions being final without modification by the Board of County Commissioners?

A yes vote means: County Commissioner pay would no longer be a fixed charter salary; it would instead be set every year by a new five-member independent Salary Commission whose decisions the County Commission cannot change.
A no vote means: County Commissioners would keep their current fixed annual salary, unchanged, with no independent Salary Commission created.
