Biography
Vern Thompson is a former Democratic state lawmaker, independent trucker, and farmer who served in the North Dakota House from 1989-1990 and the state Senate from 1997-2000, including one session as Minority Caucus Leader. He announced his candidacy for North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner in March 2026, receiving endorsement from the ND Democratic-NPL Executive Committee.
