Biography
Tammy Duckworth is a U.S. Senator from Illinois, first elected in 2016 after serving two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. An Iraq War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, she was among the first Army women to fly combat missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years in the Reserve Forces. She previously served as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
