Biography
Rhetta Andrews Bowers was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives to serve District 113 on November 8, 2018, becoming the first African American of Caribbean descent to represent the district. An alumna of Spelman College and Texas Southern University, she previously worked as a broadcast journalist and an educational services coordinator. She assumed office on January 8, 2019, and is a member of the Democratic Party.
