Michalyn Easter-Thomas

Michalyn Easter-Thomas is a Non-Partisan Councilwoman for Memphis City Council District 7, first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023. An educator with a Doctorate of Education from Vanderbilt University and a community advocate, she chairs the Public Services, Arts and Youth Initiatives Committee and serves as a liaison to Shelby County Schools. She founded Our Grass Our Roots, a non-profit focused on pushing back against gentrification and promoting progressive partnerships in North Memphis.
