MELISA LOPEZ FRANZEN

Melisa López Franzen is a former Minnesota State Senator who represented District 49 from 2013 to 2023. She was the first Latina and person of color to lead a Minnesota legislative caucus as DFL Senate Minority Leader from 2021 to 2023. An attorney by profession, she holds degrees from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, the University of Minnesota, and Hamline University School of Law.
