Biography
Marilyn Strickland, a Democrat, serves as the U.S. Representative for Washington's 10th Congressional District, a position she assumed on January 3, 2021. Prior to her time in Congress, Strickland served as the mayor of Tacoma from 2010 to 2017 and as a Tacoma City Council member from 2008 to 2009. She is noted as the first African American to represent Washington state at the federal level and one of the first Korean American women elected to Congress.
