Kandie Smith

Kandie D. Smith, a Democratic politician, has been deeply involved in Eastern North Carolina since 2004. She served as a Greenville City Councilwoman from 2009, became the first African American female Mayor of Greenville in 2017, and represented NC House District 8 for two terms starting in 2018. Since 2022, she has been a member of the NC State Senate for District 5, covering Edgecombe and Pitt Counties, and is seeking re-election.
