Biography
Judith Zaffirini, a Democrat from Laredo, is the first Hispanic woman elected to the Texas Senate, representing the 21st Senatorial District since 1986. She became the first woman Dean of the Senate on December 31, 2023. Zaffirini holds state and national records for passing over 1,500 bills and casting more than 76,000 consecutive votes, and has a background as a communication specialist, educator, and businesswoman.
