Biography
Joshua Daniel Smith is a Navy Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran and father of seven with a degree in Applied Math and Computer Science. He has a background in libertarian activism, hosting the "Break the Cycle" podcast, and previously held leadership roles within the Libertarian Party, including Vice Chair of the Libertarian National Committee. Smith, who previously ran for president and Iowa State Senate as a Libertarian, announced his intention to run against Senator Joni Ernst as a Republican in the 2026 Iowa Senate race.
