Biography
Joshua A. Simmons was first elected to the Coral Springs City Commission, Seat 4, in November 2018, becoming the first African American Commissioner in the city's history. He was appointed Vice Mayor in 2020 and reappointed in 2021, and sworn in for an additional term as Commissioner in 2022. Simmons, who holds a BA in Political Science and an MS in Psychology, has worked as a mental health therapist and a teacher in Broward County Public Schools.
