JONI K ERNST

Joni K. Ernst, a Republican, was born in Red Oak, Iowa, on July 1, 1970. She served as a U.S. Senator from Iowa from 2015 and is noted as the first female combat veteran in the Senate. Ernst had a 23-year military career, including deployment to Iraq, and previously held roles as Montgomery County Auditor and in the Iowa State Senate.
