Biography
Jerry Lee Jones Jr. is a Democratic candidate for the New Hanover County Board of Education. He previously worked as an environmental chemist and general manager before becoming an educator, teaching science at middle and high school levels. Currently, he co-owns "The Roasted Bookery" in Wilmington, a bookstore curated to highlight BIPOC, API, and Queer authors.
Top Priorities
- Adjusting school committee meeting times to accommodate working families.
- Improving low-performing schools through decreased student-to-educator ratios, incentive pay for staff, and funded in-school suspension positions.
