Biography
Janie Lopez made history in November 2022 as the first Republican Hispanic elected State Representative for House District 37, covering Willacy and Cameron Counties in south Texas. She was the first in her family to attend college, earning a Master’s in mental health, and has worked as a mental healthcare professional treating at-risk children, veterans, and first responders. Before her election, she served as a Director in the San Benito CISD, where student achievement increased and disciplinary referrals were reduced by 66%.
