Biography
James Scholten is a Democratic Iowa state representative for District 1, representing Sioux City. Born in Ames, Iowa, and raised in Sioux City, he previously had a career as a professional baseball pitcher and paralegal. Scholten is set to retire from the Iowa House at the end of the 2026 session after winning re-election in 2024.
