James E. Stewart Sr.

Stewart has served as a prosecutor, district judge and state appellate court judge, and was first elected Caddo Parish District Attorney in 2015 following the death of the previous district attorney, Charles Scott; he was reelected in 2021, per the Caddo Parish District Attorney's office and KSLA. His office has established a Special Victims Unit, expanded its Victim's Assistance Program, launched a youth diversion program called The Harbor with Volunteers for Youth Justice, and created the office's first formal pre-trial diversion department, per KSLA.
