Biography
Councilmember Hugo Soto-MartÃnez was born and raised in Los Angeles, the proud son of Mexican immigrants. After working from age 16, he became a labor organizer with UNITE HERE Local 11 for 16 years, fighting for workers' rights. In 2022, he was elected to the Los Angeles City Council District 13, becoming its first rank-and-file union organizer and only renter.
