Biography
Emanuel "Chris" Welch, a Democrat, is a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for District 7, serving since 2013. He became the first Black Speaker of the Illinois House in 2021 and was born in Chicago in 1971, holding degrees from Northwestern University and The John Marshall Law School.
