Biography
Elissa Slotkin is a Democratic U.S. Senator representing Michigan, who assumed office in January 2025. A third-generation Michigander, she previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives and had a career in national security, including three tours as a CIA analyst in Iraq and roles at the White House and Pentagon under Presidents Bush and Obama. Her public service was partly inspired by her mother's challenges with healthcare costs.
