Biography
Elgie R. Sims, Jr. is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate, representing District 17 since 2018. Prior to his Senate service, he served nearly four terms as State Representative for Illinois' 34th House District. Sims holds a B.S. from Illinois State University, an M.P.A. from the University of Illinois, and a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and currently serves as the Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman.
