Sheriff Don Brown began his law enforcement career in 1988 with the Newton Police Department, rising to Chief of Police in 2008 after 30 years there, per his official biography. He holds a criminal justice degree from Catawba Valley Community College and Gardner-Webb University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy's 230th session. He was first elected Catawba County Sheriff in 2018.
