She entered politics as a Republican and switched parties in December 2018. Her campaign site carries endorsements from both of the state's two most recent former insurance commissioners, Sandy Praeger and Kathleen Sebelius. In a July 2026 trade-press questionnaire she said insurers' use of artificial intelligence should face the same transparency expectations as the rest of the industry, with models tested for accuracy and bias and a human kept accountable.
