Biography
Claire Valdez is a Democratic socialist, union organizer, and artist who serves as a New York State Assemblymember for District 37 in Queens since 2025. A dual citizen of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Nation and the U.S., she was elected to the Assembly in 2024 and is now running for U.S. House NY-07 in 2026. Valdez has been a leader in NYC-DSA since 2019 and was a unit chair for 500 workers in UAW Local 2110.
