Republican · Tennessee · 2026Brent Taylor is a Memphis-area funeral home owner and state senator who has become the region's loudest voice on crime. He and his wife Kimberly bought their first funeral home in 2004 and built it into what his campaign calls the largest family-owned funeral operation in the Mid-South; the Tennessee General Assembly lists his occupation as funeral director. Elected to the Memphis City Council in 1995 at 27, he later chaired the Shelby County Election Commission and won state Senate District 31 in 2022. Carrying President Trump's endorsement and more than $1 million of his own money, he won the August 6 Republican contest with 46.03% (31,057 votes) in a four-way field.
